Growing up in Australia with the backdrop of the vibrant blue Brindabella mountains, my painting has always been inspired by the effects of light and colour, and movement of the figure - as captured particularly in a series of paintings using fluid drawing with oil paint on clear primed linen canvas. More recently, I have returned to working on a larger scale with a gestural alla prima style using larger brushes. I feel that this helps me paint in shorter yet fresher creative bursts and results in a painting with more life, using a more enjoyable process.

 

I am blessed to currently be based in the New Forest, on part of what was once a dairy farm - looking out onto an old apple orchard which attacts deer and birds, as well as views towards enormus oak and other trees. Equally, I love the sea - which I have been exploring in smaller works.
